Tucansam93's Battlefield 6 Review Xbox Series X|S, 50-100 hours played
Well, we finally got it. Another BF game. I was personally hyped for this game considering I haven’t played a BF game in about ten years. I won’t say I was let down, but it wasn’t totally was I was hoping for. I say that unbiasedly as someone who is a fan of CoD.
I started with completing the campaign which was overall pretty solid. It had a decent storyline and each chapter was entertaining. The environments were graphically stunning as well in certain areas.
Then came multiplayer. It took some getting used to. I thought most of the maps were overall well designed and, of course, the destructible environments are always a cool feature of BF. The small map game modes like King of the Hill and Strikepoint (Hardpoint and Search and Destroy in CoD) are always fun. So no complaints there.
When it came to the large scale maps is where my frustrations began. I have to agree with @blustrkr’s review about this. There was just way too much congestion on these game modes. A lot of times getting a win is just which team can make more of a mess of suppression on the other team. You spend a lot of time just hunkered down or instantly getting killed which is considerably frustrating that you spend a lot of time moving to play the objectives. In addition there’s a lot of spawn kills on certain maps. Not to deflect to CoD, but I’d rather play Ground War on MW2 or MW3 than on the BF6 large scale game modes. You can at least play with more strategy. BF6 of course has a large selection of vehicles however aircraft and main battle tanks don’t make up for those flaws to me (CoD only has anti-infantry style tanks and buggies).
I think my only other major complaint with this game is how weak marksman and sniper rifles are. On multiplayer I was getting neck-and-up shots on other players with sniper rifles and getting 90 damage sometimes which is ridiculous in my opinion. Torso shots are almost guaranteed two shot kills. Maybe I just haven’t leveled up my weapons enough or I need to get better…or it’s just BF.
In conclusion I haven’t necessarily given up on this game. It still is fun to play despite its flaws. If you choose to buy it, it will demand your full attention.
