A top-down shooter in an alternate universe where World War I never ended, played cooperatively in a massively multiplayer environment. Usually roughly 240 players split amongst two teams on the persistent battlefield. There are many roles that need to be filled by players, including producing and transporting supplies (logistics), building trenches and bunkers, building railroad networks, and infantry, naval, and tank warfare.

The greatest war games are all about scale. Perhaps you remember Medal of Honor Allied Assault, the superlative FPS from 2002.
