Currently, there is no traditional XP system. Instead, you complete Daily and Weekly Challenges to earn XP on your Battle Pass, which will in turn generate rewards as you level up. Of course, you can also purchase level ups with real money.

So, you need to try to use cover and prioritize headshots whenever possible. It's also usually faster to not Aim Down Sights (ADS) when shooting and can save you crucial fractions of a second when in a battle. Try to only use ADS when shooting farther away.
